Improving Leith & The Waterfront

At the Policy and Strategy Committee of the Council in November, it was agreed that funding would be given to two important projects. The first is the link road from Seafield to Constitution Street, which will provide improved connectivity with the port, and provide environmental benefits by reducing traffic and protecting the historic heart of Leith. The other project [...]

Christmas Wrapping

I had a lovely time just before Christmas when I helped out at Ocean Terminal when the Port Chaplain, Tim Bell, and volunteers helped to wrap presents and sign cards for seafarers berthed at Leith. This is a lovely custom, helping sailors far from home, and I was more than delighted to help out.

Leith Hospital Memories

I spent a lovely Friday afternoon in a packed South Leith Church Hall with many people who had worked at Leith Hospital, or been patients there. We had gathered to watch a one-act play set in the hospital in the 1960s. Museums in the Community

A young Museums Officer has been doing great work within the Newhaven Community. Working with the local school cluster group, Newhaven History Group, and other members of the community, the Museums Officer will be organising loan boxes of Museum objects, teacher’s packs, and hoping to develop visits to Care Homes in the area. The Officer [...]

Links Steering Group

I’d like to voice my support for the Links Steering Group. The Group has been doing sterling work in improving this part of Leith. The group has met on a regular basis, and works closely with local officials, and has even undertaken a walk around the Leith Links area to see what changes and improvements [...]
