In late June, after a year of building work, the Hindu Mandir Cultural Centre re-opened.
The extensive works have involved stonework and roofing repairs, installing a new lift, and heating and lighting improvements.
The project was undertaken through the Leith Townscape Heritage Initiative, and financed through the National Lottery, along with funding from Historic Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council, and the Hindu Mandir Community itself (who must also take credit for this great achievement).
The project has been a great success, and Leith now has a wonderful space for both worship and community use. I look forward to seeing and using the centre in future.
