At the Policy and Strategy Committee of the Council in November, it was agreed that funding would be given to two important projects.
The first is the link road from Seafield to Constitution Street, which will provide improved connectivity with the port, and provide environmental benefits by reducing traffic and protecting the historic heart of Leith.
The other project is the creation of an esplanade on the waterfront, subject to agreement with the new owners of Ocean Terminal.
These are the first schemes of their type in Scotland and other authorities are looking to introduce them in their areas. I do hope given the economic climate these schemes go ahead and help reinvigorate Leith and improve the environment.
